Camshaft Crankshaft Sensor Removal

The most common symptom of a failed crankshaft position sensor on a nissan is that the car hesitates to start or the car stalls after it starts. I found this to be the most direct way. These sensors are in pain sight and will have a two or three wire connector attached to them. Locate the sensor on the front of the motor near the crankshaft pulley and use the appropriately sized socket and ratchet handle to remove the sensor s hold down bolt.

It is often confused with the camshaft position sensor which can also fail and cause engine start problems. Locate the crankshaft sensor on the side of the engine block if you have a century. Unplug the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor mounting bolts to remove the sensor from the engine using a ratchet and socket. If winging it look for the cam and crank sensors on the engine block.

Use a small flat blade standard screwdriver or pick to release the electrical connector tab to remove connector from the sensor.
