Do this by lifting up the bottom rail and finding the wood or plastic pegs along the bottom.
Spray each slat with the shellac spray primer until the slat is coated evenly.
It s a little time consuming to get all the slats back in the notches and facing the same way.
You don t want paint on the strings or to spend hours trying to paint around them so the real trick in painting blinds is to take the slats off the strings.
The shellac spray primer will bind to bare wood or wood finished with both oil and water based coatings.
The spray paint also made the strings stiff so that does affect the how easily the blinds raises and lowers.
If you do this know that the paint may not be smooth.
I let it dried a bit before closing the blinds and spraypainting again.
Use light coats of spray paint to cover the entire slat.
One advantage of this approach.
We tried cream spray paint to see if that would go quicker but came back to this chalktype paint process because we liked it the best.
